Reiko from Peru#2 Mujeres Unidas ～ペルー在住鏑木玲子さんのエッセイ～
I came back from NY on the 27. Wedding was beautiful.
The day after coming back from NY, I went to the workshop. It is good that there is hardly any time difference to makes me tired. In the workshop, which we call“taller” in Spanish, all the women were working very hard. They have to as we have a couple of big orders from Japan and Korea which we have to finish in two or three months. They looked happy, though. “When we finish these…” is in their mind.
I was told by Oscar Ramirez that, saying that this is Dr. Leo’s idea, I should get the money from my production, and it will be used to the projects I have, for example, labour for making stairs and medical needs for the members and their direct family. It’s a good idea. Only that, I cannot produce quickly, mainly because of my eye problems. I need a lot of money for these projects all the time, but the donation or contribution doesn’t come quickly. Now I understand the women’s mind which inspires them to produce more and more, and more. I need money.
I’m a lazy person; my suitcases have something in there. I have to put them in proper places.

ニューヨークから27日に戻ってきました。息子の結婚式はとても美しいものでした。
リマに戻った翌日、作業場に行きました。幸い時差がほとんどなかったので、それほど疲れは残っていません。
作業場（スペイン語ではtallerと書いて、タジェールと発音します。）では、女性たちは皆一生懸命編み物に励んでいました。
2,3か月で仕上げなければならない日本と韓国からのオーダーがあるのです。
でも彼女たちは嬉しそうです。「これを作り終えたら・・・」という思いが頭にあるのでしょう。
Socios en Saludのメンバーから、私も編んでいるのだから、売上から他の女性たちと同様に収入を得るべきだと提案がありました。
そうすれば、私の収入はカラバイヨの危ない坂に階段を作る費用に充てたり、女性たちやその家族が病気やけがをした時の治療費に充てたりすることができます。ただ、私は目の問題があるので、そう速く編むことができないのですが。
取り組みたいプロジェクトはたくさんあって、それには資金が必要ですが、寄付や販売による収入を得るまでには時間がかかります。
女性たちが熱心に編み続ける気持ちがわかります。
まだまだお金が必要なのです。
私は怠け者なので、スーツケースも荷解きせずまだそのままですが。
